Our story
Somewhere, someone is talking about the thing you're building. I wanted a quiet place to find it.
I'm Johnny Mobley. I started building systems for other people in 2000, when I was 16, and I've been doing it ever since. Along the way I automated most of my own work, and the tools I built for myself became these companies. Each one runs on rules I wrote down, not on paid AI calls, which is why it can cost so little.
If you make something, the useful conversations about it happen on Hacker News threads and GitHub issues, and you usually find them days late. I built Marketingium's mention inbox to search both for a keyword when you ask, keep the threads worth coming back to, and let you answer them yourself.
It runs on your terms: you press the button, it checks the public sources, and your watchlist stays in your own browser. It never posts anything and never sends you mail.
What works today
- Searches recent Hacker News stories and comments and GitHub issues and pull requests for a keyword you choose
- Keeps your saved keywords and the mentions you want in an inbox in your browser, which you can mark read or export as a file
What it doesn't do yet
Syften still does things Marketingium doesn't:
- Reddit, X, YouTube and other communities. Marketingium checks only Hacker News and GitHub.
- Checking on its own and alerting you by email or Slack. You run each check yourself.
- Filtering out noisy matches before you see them.
- A long archive of past mentions.
What it costs
| What you get | Price | |
|---|---|---|
| Syften Entry | Ongoing keyword monitoring across communities such as Reddit and Hacker News, with alerts when you're mentioned. | $29.95/mo |
